Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) in a letter to President of Philippines Benigno S. Aquino III expressed serious concern over the killing of radio broadcaster Elvis Ordaniza inside his house by an unidentified assailant on 19 February 2016 in Zamboangadel Sur, southern Philippines.

PPF Secretary General Owais Aslam Ali in a letter to President Aquino III urged the government to ensure the freedom of expression, safety of the journalists and the arrest of lone gunman who killed Ordaniza.

According to Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR), he was the first journalist killed in the year 2016. If proven work-related, his killing will be the 151st case of a journalist killed in the line of duty since 1986 in the Philippines.

Ordaniza, a brave reporter working for Pagadian City-based dxWO Power 99 FM recently reported and commented on illegal drugs and illegal gambling in Pitogo town before he was shot dead.
