Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation (APNEC) submit final memorandum

ISLAMABAD- The representatives of newspapers employees submitted a memorandum for final award of the 7th Wage Board for newspapers employees in a meeting presided over by Justice (R) Raja Afrasiab Khan, chairman of the Wage Board.

The meeting was attended by the chairman of All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation (APNEC), Abdul Hameed Chhapra, President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) I.H. Raashed, APNEC Secretary General Pervez Shaukat, PFUJ Senior Assistant Secretary General Abdullah Jan and Baluchistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) representative Majid Fouz. Senior officers of the ministry of labour, manpower and overseas Pakistanis were also present on the occasion.

The next meeting of 7th Wage Board will be held in Lahore on Thursday, April 23. This was the second day of the Wage Board meeting.

The meeting expressed its concern over the absence of newspaper owners from the meeting. However, despite their absence, it was decided to continue the proceedings.

Justice (retd) Raja Afrasiab Khan informed the participants about his meeting with newspaper owners and their representatives which he held with them last month. He expressed the hope that the owners’ representatives would end their boycott of the board proceedings by the next meeting.

The meeting congratulated the newly elected president of All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS) Hameed Haroon and General Secretary Asad Abid and other office-bearers and expressed hope that the new leadership of APNS would ensure implementation of the interim relief for the newspaper employees and end boycott of proceedings of the board.
