Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA), All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS) slam PTI leaders for maligning media
KARACHI: The Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) and the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) on Sunday condemned what they described as utterly fake, malicious and baseless propaganda being spread by some PTI leaders aimed at maligning the county’s media.
In a joint statement, the two organizations said PTI leaders Fawad Chaudhry, Shahbaz Gill and Hammad Azhar continue to spread fake news aimed at earning cheap publicity at the expense of the media.
The PBA and APNS warned that if these PTI leaders do not stop their mala fide campaign, the media bodies would exercise their constitutional rights and file defamation proceedings against them in a court of law. They also lamented the mischievous campaign on social media being run by the PTI leaders giving grossly exaggerated volume of ads and linking it to and questioning media’s integrity.
The media representative bodies urged former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan to take strong action against his party leaders who are bringing him and PTI in disrepute.
