Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the IT and telecommunications sectors.

The agreement was finalized during a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja and the Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy. Director General International Coordination MoITT Syed Jawwad Ali Sherazi also was there.

Highlighting the potential benefits for Pakistani tech companies, Khawaja noted that Saudi Arabia presents a lucrative market. She urged Saudi authorities to simplify the visa and travel processes for Pakistani IT firms registered with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB).

This collaboration seeks to boost the IT sector by providing new business opportunities and addressing key demands from Pakistani IT firms.

Khawaja emphasized on cyber security, with both nations expressing a keen interest in joint efforts to enhance their capabilities in this critical area.

Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy has pledged comprehensive support to facilitate Pakistani tech companies in terms of visa issuance and business operations, which is expected to ease the travel and administrative burdens typically associated with international work.
