Pak journalist elected UNCA president

UNITED NATIONS- Azim M. Mian, a journalist from Pakistan, was elected president of the United Nations Correspondents Association in a closely fought election.

Azim M. Mian, who is a UN correspondent, is the second Pakistani to head the UN journalists’ body, which has a membership of over 130.

The first Pakistani to be elected president of the United Nations Correspondents Association was Iftikhar Ali who served as UN correspondent for close to 15 years.

Ambassador Shamshad Ahmed, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations and Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States, Dr Maleeha Lodhi, have expressed their delight at the veteran Pakistani journalist’s success, describing it as an impressive achievement.
