ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has recommended to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the termination of the contract of FM-101 given to M/s Loud and Clear by the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) following the special audit report of the Auditor General of Pakistan Revenue (AGPR).

The AGPR submitted its special audit report to the PAC secretariat in which it pointed out gross violation in awarding the Rs600 million contract of the FM 101 to Loud and Clear by PBC without offering a tender and the special audit found violation of clauses 21 (3), 29 and 30 of Pakistan Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules.

The PAC issued directive for the special audit of awarding the contract in its first formal meeting in first week of January this year after PBC director general failed to prove transparency in awarding the contract.

According to PAC sources, the special audit report that was submitted to the PAC last week pointed out 13 gross violations of the PPRA rules in awarding the contract and even the bank guarantees were not taken from the company to recover the money as well as no arrangements were made to recover the loss due to poor performance of the contractor.
