NWFP to provide full security to girls’ schools

PESHAWAR: NWFP Minister for Primary Education Sardar Hussain Babak said on Friday the NWFP government would provide full security and protection to educational institutions, especially to girls’ schools in the restive Swat district.

The minister, while rejecting the threats of militants for total closedown of girls’ schools in Swat from January 15, declared that the government would ensure protection to girls’ schools and nobody would be allowed to burn or destroy them in the name of religion.

The minister expressed these views while addressing the prize-distribution ceremony of Quaid-e-Azam Group Schools and Colleges in Swabi district.

He said no power on earth could stop girls and boys from going to schools as it was their birth right to get education, adding the government would come hard on those who challenged its writ. The children studying in various schools in Swat are Muslims and their parents are good practicing Muslims, he said.

Babak said conspiracies against the Pakhtuns and its soil would be foiled with the power of people.

The minister said nations which forget their mother tongues can’t achieve success, saying focus should be on the Pashto language for promotion of education in the province.
