NOC for artistes challenged
LAHORE: A petition has been filed with the Lahore High Court challenging condition of obtaining no objection certificates (NOCs) for artistes, students and journalists before travelling abroad.
Advocate Noshab A Khan has filed the petition saying that the impugned decision taken by the federal government is a gross infringement of civil liberties.
The petitioner says the decision is Zia regime`s flashback when artistes were hostage to NOCs. This is an utter violation and encroachment upon the fundamental rights of citizens enshrined in the Constitution.
Therefore, the decision is illegal, without jurisdiction, misconstrued application of discretion and void ab initio, the petitioner pleads and prays to set it aside.
