No PPP conspiracy against media’

Staff Report

KARACHI: Bilawal House Spokesman Ijaz Durrani has strongly condemned a news item published in a section of the press claiming sanctioning of Rs 500 million for the establishment of a “so-called” secret cell to run campaigns against journalists and Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) rebels.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, he said that the party workers and journalists have a sacred relationship of ‘one life, two hearts’, while all party leaders and workers are united under the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

He described the news item as baseless and ridiculous, saying that it has nothing to do with facts or reality. Durrani said that the elements involved in planting such stories are the same who have been planning conspiracies against democratic governments during the past 30 years and have been promoting ‘lifafa and brief case cultures’ to weaken these governments.

Durrani further said that democracy could not be strengthened due to the intrigues of these elements, which have become active again and conspiring against a democratic government formed after huge sacrifices.
