No military operation in Balochistan, Senate told

ISLAMABAD: The Balochistan government on Friday told the Senate Committee that there was no military operation being carried out in the province as not a single personnel of army was deputed anywhere in the province.

Chief Secretary Balochistan Babar Yaqoob informed Special Committee of Senate on law and order situation in the province. The meeting held here at Parliament House. The committee, headed by PPP Senator Sheikh Islamuddin Sheikh held its first meeting and indicated that it would hold further more meetings to take up this issue, which some members pointed out province situation.

The chief secretary said he believed that meetings of this committee would provide strength to the provincial administration like the hearings of the Supreme Court on unrest in Balochistan. He also sought the federation’s help by deputing more and more officials to bridge the gap, which has badly affected the administrative structure.

Senator Hasil Bazenjo said that 40-45 people were killed in target killing incidents in Khuzdar in the last few months. He said that although some normalcy had returned following the action of administration but by and large, the people of Khuzdar are living a fearful life still.

Senator Maulana Ghafoor Haideri termed an attempt to push the province to further anarchy and civil war. Senator Zahid Khan said that nation wants to hear truth because the establishment and rulers have lied so much so that province has come on the verge of complete disaster. Inspector General Balochistan and Chief Secretary Balochistan also attended the meeting to further explain the government’s stance on this situation.
