Newspaper declaration cancelled
QUETTA- The Quetta District Magistrate has cancelled declaration of the Daily Inqilab, Quetta, with immediate effect, an official notification said here on Sunday.
The notification said that the declaration had been cancelled under Section 24 sub-section(l) (F) and section 27 sub-section (I) of the Press and Publication Ordinance, 1963.
The notification gave the reason for the action as publication of a false and fabricated news in the paper against the Chief Secretary of Balochistan on its issue of June 4. After the publication of the news, the Editor and Publisher was served with a notice by the Quetta District Magistrate, asking him to produce documentary evidence/proof in support of the news item. The notification said that the Editor and Publisher of the newspaper had failed to produce the documentary evidence to support the news item and therefore, the declaration had been cancelled. 1
The owner of the newspaper has said that he will go to the higher courts to seek justice.
