Newsmen concerned at explosion

KARACHI- Journalists and other workers expressed concern at the recent bomb blast at a newspaper office and hoax bomb calls at various other newspaper offices and the Karachi Press Club. They were speaking at a meeting held under the auspices of the Karachi Union of Journalists at the KPC.

A resolution adopted on the occasion termed the blast and hoax calls a deliberate campaign against the newspapers and said they were aimed at preventing the journalists from performing their professional duties.

The resolution demanded of the government to take a serious notice of this campaign. It also called for a judicial inquiry into it. The resolution called upon the government and the newspaper owners to take immediate measures for the protection of workers.

Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) president Sarfraz Ahmed, KPC president Khurshid Tanveer, Tahir Najmi, Sabihuddin Ghausi, Yusuf Khan, Bachal Leghari and Mohammad Saeed spoke at the meeting.
