Newlywed man killed, wife injured

KARACHI: A newly wed man was killed Thursday and his wife injured during a shootout within the jurisdiction of the Jackson police station. Two men were also found dead in a separate incident.

The body of the deceased, identified as Munir Mohammad, 35, along with his injured wife, Minu Naz, 26, was taken to Civil Hospital Karachi. The victims belong to Deer, N.W.F.P, where they eloped and then moved to Karachi nearly a year ago, stated SHO Rao Farman. “It was a karo kari incident.”

The woman’s brother and some family members came into their Gulshan-e-Sikandarabad home and opened fire and axed the couple, killing Mohammad and fatally injuring Naz, after which they fled, the SHO stated. “We are in the initial stage of the case. Naz is in critical condition and cannot give a statement at the moment, he added.”

No FIR was registered till filing of this report.
