Need stressed for imparting training to young journalists

KARACHI – There is a need to impart training to those youngsters who are venturing into the field of journalism.

This was stressed by the Sindh Minister for Youth Affairs, Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari. He was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural session of Pakistan Media Conference-2012.

The moot was held at the premises of Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, on Saturday under the auspices of the Sindh Youth Affairs Department in collaboration with the Institute of Journalism.

Subzwari was of the view that those youngsters who are taking up journalism as a career should understand the sensitivities and subtleties of the profession and perform their duties seriously in accordance with the code of ethics.

He believed that in the realms of journalism there should be no sensationalism or any element of character assassination etc.

He said that the Sindh Department of Youth Affairs is conducting courses and training and workshops related to media in collaboration with the Institute of Journalism.

Meanwhile, today’s conference spread over four sessions covering various aspects.

Senior journalists Agha Masood Hussain, Mujahid Barelvi, Dr Fauzia Khan, Fatima Hassan, Muhammad Zubair, Huma Baqai, Sadia Imam, Roohi Syed as well as Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, president of Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, and Director of Youth Affairs Sindh, Khurshid Ali Shaikh, also expressed their views on the occasion.
