KARACHI: A workshop on “Internet of Everything” organised by Department of Computer Science University of Karachi, on Thursday at UBIT Seminar Hall.

The event started with the recitation of the verses from the Holy Quran. Latyer In charge DCS Mr. Badar Sami gave a welcome note. He talked about the scope of Internet and also discussed the concept of IoE.

Prof. Dr. S. M. Aqil Burney , meritorious Professor , founder of the Department said “ when we started in 1994, there were only 70 students and 2 teachers and today there are over 1700 students and many teachers.

According to him, the goal of the concept behind it is, to have a peaceful, vibrant society, we need to interact with other people and the future depends in innovation. He ended by praising the hardworking students and the efforts taken by the workshop coordinator Dr. M. Sadiq Ali Khan.

The main part which elaborated the tagline of the workshop IoE was conducted by M. Noman Ali, Assistant Professor and Academy Coordinator in Cisco Support Centre CTTC. He explained IoE as “every computing device must be connected to a network: 99% of the unconnected devices are expected to be on a network by 2020”.

The second session was conducted by Ahmer Saeed Asst Director IT in State Bank of Pakistan and Director of Cisco Centre in CTTC. He discussed Cyber Security- modern security threats and their mitigation. He said every organization prioritises the protection of its assets and databases. With this the workshop headed towards its closing ceremony.

Rehan Hashmi (Member National Assembly and sub-committee member HEC) was invited as a Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour was Jamal Ahmed , Member Provincial Assembly.
