Nazim leaves for Davos

Addressing a press conference at his secretariat before leaving for Davos on Monday, Mr Kamal said it was an honor not only for Karachiites but also for the whole Pakistan that Karachi had been selected out of 25 major cities as a mega city.“We have repeatedly said that Karachi is viable for foreign investors who have vast opportunities of trade and commerce here but today the world has acknowledged our stance,” he said and added that he would have an opportunity to market the city as the head of different countries and representatives of multi-national companies would be attending the moot.Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz would also embark on his visit to Davos and Brussels on January 24.
The invitation from the World Economic Forum was a plain proof that they had chosen 12 mega cities as investors’ friendly and included Karachi for the first time in this ranking. It happened due to the positive initiatives taken by the present city government, the Nazim said.Mr Kamal said he would inform the investors about the vast opportunities available in the local market as they could start new projects on public/private partnership in the sectors of solid waste management, IT, hotel industry and others.
