ISLAMABAD: A delegation of PML-N led by Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif called on President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday to offer condolence to the president over the death of his father Hakim Ali Zardari.

They offered fateha and prayed to Almighty Allah for granting eternal peace to the departed soul. Primarily purpose of the meeting was to offer condolence over the death of President Zardari’s father, but it turned into “friendly complaints in lighter tone” that President Zardari and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif registered to each other.

According to sources, it was long awaited meeting but was held in different situation, as Nawaz Sharif came to presidency to condole the death of the father of President Zardari.

However, sources said when the political leaders meet each other then how is it possible that the politics would not be discussed. But after the meeting, the PML-N and government were tight lipped over the content of the political discussion that took place in the meeting, saying that it was understanding that ‘no politics’ could be revealed to the media.

When contacted sources in the Presidency, who were privy to meeting, said the meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari was held after a long time and both had the ‘friendly complaints’ that they conveyed to each other.

Sources said during the meeting, Nawaz Sharif complained in a friendly tone that those were nobody three years ago were now part of the government, and President Zardari replied that same is in Punjab.

According to sources, Nawaz said due to mistakes of the politicians the dictators got a chance to rule the country but this government gave the guard of honour to those who unconstitutionally ruled the country.

Sources said President Zardari replied that it was he who threw the dictator out from the presidency and now he was wandering in the world. Nawaz said he along with Benazir Bhutto signed a charter of democracy to close the door for the dictatorship forever but it was never implemented, said the sources.
