NADRA to identify victims from Wednesday

THATTA: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will start on Wednesday the process of identifying flood affected people in 298 Dehs of Thatta district and issuing Rs20,000 compensation cheque to each family to help them meet their expenses.

At a press conference on Sunday, DCO Thatta Manzoor Ali Shaikh said that on the basis of a comprehensive survey and a report by the Board of Revenue, the internally displaced people (IDPs) from 132 Dehs of Jati taluka, 71 of Sujawal, 30 of Thatta, 19 of Ghorabari, 20 of Shah Bandar, 14 of Kharochhan, three of Keti Bandar and nine of Mirpur Bathoro taluka have been recommended for payment of compensation.

He said NADRA would set up six posts in collaboration with a bank to identify the heads of displaced families and issue cheques.

He said the priority would now be to divert aid from philanthropists and donors to affected people in remote areas.
