Nadra organises seminar on promotion of Civil Registration Management System

The Regional Head Office of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) organised a seminar on promotion of ‘Civil Registration Management System (CRMS)’ in collaboration with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

The chief objectives of the seminar were to address difficulties and problems being faced by general public; orientation of all stakeholders at regional, national and international level with regard to registration of vital events; sharing ideas, exchanging of views and obtaining expert opinion to enhance registration and identification of gray areas.

Civil Registration Management System (CRMS) encompasses computerised registration of vital events, ie, birth, death, marriage and divorce. The system has been implemented at union council level by Nadra in collaboration with Local Government and Community Development Department, Punjab.

The CRMS system is operating through CRMS sites, established at Union Councils, Tehsil Municipal Administration, Chief Officer Units and Cantonment Boards. All the 648 CRMS sites including Union Councils, 11 Tehsil Municipal Administrations, and 11 Cantonment Boards are now fully automated with jurisdiction of Islamabad region. The respective UCs Secretaries have been trained and software application has also been installed at all the operational CRMS sites. Forty-five CRMS supervisors are providing support and services for CRMS in RHO Islamabad.

However, NADRA provides data acquisition software application and technical assistance through designated CRMS Supervisors and Regional Management Teams. Nadra also provides/validates/verifies the information provided by the applicants (CNIC numbers and names). The speakers included representative UNFPA Muqadir Shah, Director Local Government Rawalpindi Tahir Zia, Add. Secretary Local Government AJK and DG CRMS Brigadier (r) Tanzeemuddin who addressed the participants.
