Nadra board reconstituted
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani reconstituted on Monday the National Database Registration Authority’s high-powered board to take policy decisions and provide guidelines on administrative and financial matters.
Nadra officials said the reconstitution of Nadra’s board was long awaited because it had been working with incomplete quorum since 2009.
Before this, the Nadra board was reconstituted in 2006 by former prime minister Shaukat Aziz but with the end of his government the board had been working with few members and thus required re-establishment.
According to an official announcement, the newly-formed board comprises Ali Arshad Hakeem, chairman; Mohammad Tariq Malik, deputy chairman; Kaiser Bengali, Abdul Rashid, Professor Dr Farhana Shah, Ali Tauqeer Sheikh, Ghiasuddin Ahmed, one joint secretary each from the ministries of interior, law and finance, and Makhdoom Syed Mohammad Haider Raza as its members.
The Nadra chairman welcomed the board members and hoped that the authority would benefit from their experience and suggestions to tackle its various functions.
The board will also take measures regarding the development and establishment of a central database.
