NADRA Announces Closure of Website, Shifts to Mobile App to Boost Security and Accessibility

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is set to discontinue its Pak ID website. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi declared that from January 17, all services provided by NADRA would be accessible exclusively through a newly improved mobile app.
The decision comes in the wake of numerous incidents involving fraudulent activities where fake websites were used to create illegitimate identification documents and obtain personal information from citizens. To combat these security breaches and provide a safer, more user-friendly platform, the website will be shut down, redirecting all functionalities to the mobile app.
The mobile app will support all existing services, including issuing national identity cards, NICOP, POC, B Form, and FRC. It is designed to facilitate all identification processes remotely, catering mainly to the needs of overseas Pakistanis who have faced significant challenges with the website, such as difficulties in scanning and uploading documents.
The announcement also addressed recent security concerns linked to the misuse of NADRA’s online systems. Sensitive information had been reportedly accessed by unauthorized police department officials and exploited for personal gains. In response, strict measures are being implemented by both the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
