Nadir for expansion of rural telecom network

FAISALABAD (APP): Federal Minister for Communication Raja Nadir Pervaiz has stressed the need for the expansion of rural telecommunication network so as to catalyze the process of socio-economic uplift in far flung under developed areas and strengthen the agricultural base of Pakistan.

Addressing a briefing in Chak Jhumra Telephone Exchange here Sunday, he said that Government is already implementing a comprehensive development plan to provide most modern telecommunication facilities not in the cities but also in the rural areas.

Earlier, the General Manager, Faisalabad Telecommunication Region (FTR) said that there are 1700 lines available in Chak Jhumra city while another 1000 lines are being added on the directive of the Federal Minister. He said that the work for the installation of new equipment will be completed within a period of one month at a cost of Rs.55 million. He also explained the details of the rural telecommunication network in this area and assured the minister that all the village of NA-62 will be linked with the National Telecommunication Network by this June.

Later, Raja Nadir Pervaiz along with provincial Minister for Communication, Chaudhry Mohammad Afzal Sahi, Chairman Town Committee Chak Jhumra Chaudhry Tariq Mehmood and General Secretary PML District Faisalabad Muhammad Akram Babar also visited the various sections of the telephone exchange.
