NA panel seeks PTV, radio transmission extension to FATA

ISLAMABAD (APP): A meeting of the subcommittee of National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Information and Media Development was held under the convenership of Tariq Aziz MNA here on Monday to examine the present policies of PTC and PBC and to make proposals for their betterment.

The sub-committee appreciated the role of Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan in imparting awareness to the masses of Pakistan and said that PTV had overcome its financial crunch – rather contributed a lot towards PTV’s financial position – and hoped the PTV management and producers/drama writers/artists would contribute to put their efforts collectively in its promotion.

The sub-committee recommended the remote areas of Balochistan and FATA may also be provided the facility of PTV and radio through satellite and by enhancing the megawatt power of the transmitters.

The sub-committee recommended that our national character should be projected on PTV through plays and dramas depicting our culture.

The sub-committee also congratulated the PTV for launching MidEast programme and recommended local culture of the four provinces may be telecast on PTV in which ‘Pakistaniat” could glaringly be visible. It also suggested historical dramas and classical music may also be promoted in our country.

It expressed reservations about certain programmes and showed its dislike for those programmes for not corresponding to our culture.

Those who attended the meeting were MNAs Shahkeel Ahmad, Hassan Musanna Ali and Haji Baz Gul Afridi.
