MWPJO’s website launched

KARACHI: The Media Women Publishers and Journalists Organisation (MWPJO), in collaboration with the Arts Council of Pakistan launched its website on Saturday to provide latest information to the people in an impressive ceremony.

On the occasion, Mary Elizabeth Madden, Economic Officer at the US Consulate in Karachi highly lauded the launch of MWPJO’s website. She said that it was necessary in the ongoing era of information technology (IT), and was the need of the hour to get in couch with the world. The MWPJO’s website, no doubt is providing an effective platform to create linkages by networking people from all over world.

She said that people around the world are getting advantage of internet services to stay connected with the rest of the world. The fact is that around 2 billion people, one-third of the world’s total population, are online nowadays. The MWPJO’s website was launched by the Political and Economic Consul, US Consulate in Karachi, Mary Elizabeth Madden while Information Officer, US Consulate in Karachi Andie De Arment; Advisor Information, Government of Sindh, Taj Haider, Founder Chairperson MWPJO, Masudah Ahmed, President of the MWPJO, Qudsia Kadri, Senior Vice President MWPJO, Mehreen Illahi; Secretary General MWPJO, Dr Huma Mir and a member of MWPJO Executive Committee members were also present on the occasion.

Advisor, Information, Government of Sindh, Taj Haider congratulated the office bearers and Managing Committee members of the MWPJO on achieving yet another significant milestone by launching its official website. He said that in the challenging world, information technology (IT) is very important so that information is quickly disbursed and this website would help to improve the life style of the people.

He appreciated the effective role being played by the media and particularly electronic media not only for raising awareness amongst masses but also for making them realise the necessity to fight for their rights and all kinds of violations in the society.

President of MWPJO, Qudsia Kadri was looking very happy. She said that the MWPJO has been actively working to protect women’s rights since its inception some 20 years ago, when its Founder Chairperson, Masudah Ahmed decided to establish a platform to raise voice for media owners. She said that the members and workers of the organisation must increase their activities to improve the performance of MWPJO.
