Muridke police action against, journalists flayed

FEROZEWALA: Journalists community of Sheikhupura has condemned the Muridke police for registering a false case against two city newsmen under 16 MPO.

Punjab Union of Press Correspondents, in a meeting, also deplored the police action and declared it an attack on Press freedom. The journalists urged the Prime Minister and Federal Minister for Information to order withdrawal of cases against Shamshul Haq and Rana Jaffer Hussain.

The journalists of Tehsil Ferozewala, in a meeting presided over by Muhammad Anwar Ch, flayed the police action. They said the police by resorting to such steps neither conceal their misdeeds nor harass the journalist community.

The meeting demanded the Prime Minister to order the police to withdraw the cases against the newsmen.

Rana Jaffer and Shamshul Haq were arrested by the Muridke Police. They were later sent to District Jail Sheikhupura.

The participants of the meeting including Khadam Hussain, Sarwar Rana, Asad Kharal Qasam Wala vowed to face the police accesses boldly and continue to expose the negative tactics of police.
