Murderers of woman, children remanded to police custody till 24th

Karachi: Judicial Magistrate Central, Abdul Sattar, sent two suspects allegedly involved in the multiple murders of a woman and her three children, on remand to police custody till December 24.

The two men, 20-year-old Zubair Ahmed (son of Naseer Ahmed), and 16-year-old Nabeel (son of Zaheer Mirza), were arrested in North Karachi on Tuesday, from the jurisdiction of Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police station. An FIR (No. 343/2008) was registered under Section 302.

Seema, wife of Jameel, and her children, five-year-old Ramsha, six-year-old Osama, and eight-year-old Saima, were found slaughtered on Friday evening in their Sector 5 A-4 house. The prime suspect, Zubair Ahmed, had masterminded the murders because he suspected that Jameel was having an affair with his mother.

A special investigating team comprising the area Deputy-Superintendent of Police (DSP) and the Station Investigating Officer (SIO) was assigned to investigate the case. The police said that Jameel had a relationship with Zubair’s mother who lived in the same locality. Jameel had also rented out the upper portion of his house to Zubair’s sister.

Zubair, the IO said, used to quarrel with his mother over her alleged relationship with Jameel and had asked his mother to stop the man coming to their home. He had bought two knives, believed to be the murder weapons, from a shop at Rahmania Mor. The IO said that Zubair had actually gone to kill Jameel, but killed his wife and children instead, because Jameel himself was not present in the house at the time.

The IO also said that Zubair’s father was an elderly, unemployed and sick man. The killer reportedly told investigators that Jameel was having an affair with his mother for the past several years.

He said that Jameel had also been supporting his family for many years and had arranged the marriage of Zubairís sister.

The police had initially picked up Shahzad, the husband of Zubairís sister, for interrogation. Both Shahzad and his wife were not living in their rented portion for the past two months on account of estranged relations between them.

Zubair and his friend Nabeel had originally planned to kill Jameel. Zubair reached victimís house on Dec 12 and asked Seema for the keys to his sisterís rented portion to collect some clothes from there. Zubair opened the upper portion and called for his friend through his cell phone asking him to reach the spot, the IO said. During this time, Osama came upstairs and Zubair stabbed the boy in the abdomen and then slit his throat.

Seema sent her daughter Saima upstairs when her son did not return. The suspect grabbed her and slit her throat too. They then slaughtered Seemaís four-year-old daughter in a room while Seema was sitting in the lounge, the IO said. Both friends then tied Seema up and slit her throat.
