Murdered newsman’s relatives protest

DADU: Relatives of slain journalist Ghulam Rasool Birhamani protested in Wahi Pandhi on Thursday, demanding arrest of the remaining accused. The journalist was killed by five people a couple weeks ago in Wahi Pandhi.

Shah Mohammad Birhamani, cousin of deceased journalist who is also complainant in the case, said that five people were nominated in the FIR out of which three were yet to be arrested. The case has been challaned in a local court five days ago.

According to police official Ismail Dawachh, the three unidentified accused had been declared absconders.

The SPO of Paat Gul Mohammad Mohammad, Omer Shahani, said that during investigation names of two accused were disclosed and later conveyed to the DPO, but relatives of assassinated journalists did not agree with their names and showed their lack of trust over his investigation.

Mr Shahani, however, refused to make their names public adding that the relatives and local journalist knew them well. He said that he had completed the enquiry and submitted a detailed report to the DPO. He said that the remaining accused had approached relatives of deceased journalist and negotiating with them.
