Mother of five found shot dead

KARACHI: A 47-year-old woman, the mother of five, was found shot dead on Tuesday in her shantytown house in Model Colony, witnesses and police said.

They said that Rashida, wife of Abdul Qadir Soomro, was alone at her house in Rahim Khan Village when at around 8am she was shot dead.

The police said that the victim’s husband, a Rangers sepoy, was posted in the interior of Sindh.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where medico-legal sources told Dawn that the victim was hit by two bullets from a very close range.

They said that a bullet hit the victim’s eye and exited from her skull and the second bullet went through her chest.

The police said that the victim had remarried Mr Soomro some 15 years ago after her first husband died. They said that the woman had three children from her first husband and two sons from the second husband.

The police said the victim’s seven-year-old son was in school and her 13-year-old son, a labourer, was at work when the incident took place.

They said the victim’s husband was scheduled to reach Karachi and a case would be registered on his complaint.

The police said that the incident seemed to be motivated by a personal enmity.
