Minor girl criminally assaulted
SUKKUR, Dec 2: Ghotki police have arrested an accused on Tuesday evening for criminally assaulting a minor girl, in his shop situated in Benazeer Colony, Rehmoon Wali, earlier this afternoon.
Reports said that a 12-year-old girl went to a grocery shop to buy some household items, where the shopowner allegedly raped her and fled.
Sources claimed that following the incident, the girl’s father and brother went to police station and narrated the incident but police did not take any action and also denied issuing medical letter.
Later the area people arrested the accused and handed him over to the police, after which police issued a medical letter to them for examination of the victim.
When contacted, the SHO Ghotki Hakim Jalbani told this scribe that police had arrested the accused and registered an FIR on the complaint of girl’s brother.
He said that the victim was shifted to taluka hospital, Ghotki, where Dr. Salma Qureshi conducted her medical check up. Dr Qureshi could not be approached for her comments.
