State Minister for IT Anusha Rahman has said that owing to the sagacious polices of the incumbent government, the country is entering into the era of latest information and communication technology. She said this while chairing a high-level meeting here on Monday, which was convened to review the progress of different projects being carried out under the direct supervision of Ministry of IT.

Federal Secretary IT Ahklaq Ahmad Tarar, Additional Secretary IT Azmat Ali Ranjha and other officials of the Ministry were present in the meeting. The Minister said that the government was assigning utmost priority to the development of ICT sector and had put in place all possible measures to accelerate the development of technology in the country. The inception of 3G and 4G technology would definitely bring economic growth and prosperity, which would help generate millions of new jobs to the educated youth.

The Minister further said that youth should not use latest technology only for entertainment purpose, but also explore the technology for software development. The government attached great priority to the E-government system, which was being implemented in all federal ministries and their attached departments to create paper-less environment and to ensure efficiency, transparency and good governance. The State Minister said that the establishment of 500 UTCs (Universal Telecenters) in rural and remote areas throughout the country would work as resource centres, which would facilitate the people by offering them services of birth registrations, e-commerce, e-health, e-learning, registration and verification of SIMS through Nadra.
