Minister announces to start trees plantation drive in schools

LAHORE: Provincial Schools Education Minister Murad Raas announced on Friday to start Plant for Pakistan Campaign under which 100 plants will be planted in all the schools of Punjab.

While addressing a press conference on Friday Dr Murad Raas said that role of teachers is very important in the promotion of education. He said that government will focus on teacher’s education.

He said government will try to bring all out of school children to school. He also said that no nation can progress without education. The minister appealed to the Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan for disposing the pending cases relating to SED so that departmental matters could be solved early.

He disclosed that children of 154 government schools in Kasur are drinking contaminated water. He said that in first phase 100 Reverse Osmosis Plants will be installed in government schools with the support of philanthropists. It was failure on part of previous government that despite providing heavy budget to the Punjab Education Foundation they failed to achieve the desired results.

“I have asked the PEF management to come up with better ideas for the future so that this institution could be run in better way”, he said. He announced to start visiting government schools after 100 days adding that his visit will be started from southern Punjab. He asked the media to identify negative things for improving the situation and added that contact is being made with parents of students studying in private schools and facing the difficulty of paying heavy fee. Secretary Schools and other were also present on the occasion. Meanwhile, he presided over a meeting of CEOs of Sahiwal and Gujranwala division.
