=> MINGORA: Thirteen persons, including four security

MINGORA: Thirteen persons, including four security personnel, were killed in a suicide attack on a military convoy on Kanra Baba road near here on Sunday.

The civilian casualties were allegedly caused by indiscriminate firing by the security forces immediately after the incident. More than 25 people, including 12 security persons and four women, were severely injured in the incident.

The injured were rushed to Saidu Sharif hospitals. They were identified as Riaz, Hussain, Hasmat, Zahid, Abdur Rauf, Abbas, Nadeem, Farhad, and civilians Ali Rehman, Akbar Khan, Naik Amal, Hussain Ara, Ayesha, Nazia, Dil Naz, Bakht Biland, Mohabat Khan, Hazrat Khan, Omar Farooq, Dilshad and others.

After the incident, a dawn to dusk curfew has been imposed in the valley. The civilians killed included Habibur Rehman of Kanju, Rehmanuddin of Malook Abad, Mansoor of Sharif Abad, Hijab Bibi of Sharif Abad, Muhammad Khan of Shahdara and a five-year-child and an unidentified person.

According to an ISPR press release issued in Rawalpindi, at 18:00 hrs a suicide bomber who was riding a vehicle blew himself up on Kas road near Mehboob Petrol Pump in Mingora city. As a result, nine individuals embraced Shahadat, including four security personnel and five civilians, while 23 others were injured, including 13 security personnel and 10 civilians.

Meanwhile, another military convoy in the Kot area was hit by a remote-controlled explosive device. No causality was reported. The security forces have taken control of various police stations including Madyan, Bahrain, Fatheh Pur and Bagh Dehri.

In an operation in Charbagh, the security forces blew up the house of a local Taliban commander, Rasheed Ahmad, while in a similar move in Gulibagh, the Madrassa of a Taliban commander, Maulana Mushtaq, was also blown up by the forces.

In Kabal area, the security forces demolished the house of a close aide of Fauji. The security forces have also claimed to have arrested more than a dozen miscreants during separate operations at Guli Bagh, Charbagh, Khawazkhela, Alam Ganj and other areas.
