Microsoft to launch Windows 2000 in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD- Microsoft, the software giant, has announced launching of Windows 2000 operating system worldwide including Pakistan, where the big discounts on its training are also included. The global retail launch of Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2000 Advanced Server operating systems will take place soon according to Mr Karam Iqbal, The Business Development Manager in Pakistan.

Microsoft has offered 45 per cent discounts on Windows 2000 training to its customers.The computer shops also get introductory training to jump-start their sales teams. The training programme has been announced to help the customers prepare for Widows 2000. “The five-day Microsoft Official Curriculum course is designed to help IT managers, systems engineers, software managers and network administrators get the most, out of their upgrade to windows 2000,” Kamran said. The Microsoft Official Curriculum course is available via Microsoft Certified Education Centres throughout the Gulf and Eastern mediterranean region, including Pakistan, at subsidised price of $550 versus the recommended retail price of $1,200 for the same course, Kamran said. Microsoft also announced special introductory course, aimed at computer resellers around the region to help them prepare their sales and support staff for the retail launch of Windows 2000.

The Windows 2000 course covers updating support skills from Microsoft NT 4.0 to Microsoft Windows 2000, designing a Microsoft Windows 2000 Networking Services Infrastructure old accelerated training for updating support skills and designing a directory services infrastructure for the new operating system. ‘Independent lab results illustrate the substantial performance benefits that customers receive with Windows 2000,’ he added.
