Microsoft introduces new 8.1 Windows in Pakistan

Microsoft introduced its new product- 8.1 Windows in Pakistan, bringing a number of new consumers, enterprises and business applications useable on all kind of latest mobile and internet devices. Briefing a group of journalists at Microsoft head-office on Wednesday, Lead Technology Strategist – Enterprise Partner Group at Microsoft – Zafar Ul Islam highlighted the features of the new version of Windows.

He said that the applications available for user include business applications, adding that the banking sector is keen to widen its networking through the fresh version called Windows 8.1. He pointed out that the banks are going for “branch of the future” to facilitate their customers more efficiently. It helps the banks to save cost of establishing a physical branch and making the traditional banking services hustle free for their clients, he added.

He said Windows 8.1 provides a wide range of tools for general users with wider accessibility to social networking, video watching, etc, with a bundle of applications available on its app store. It has a native support feature for 3D printing, with four apps side by side for multitasking and productivity, flexible windows sizing for each app on the screen, besides having ability for one app to launch another one, he said.

It also has an improved multi-monitor support with a view to help users view their desktop applications from their redesigned Windows Store on any or all monitors, he said, adding that Widows 8.1 SkyDrive helps users create, edit, save and share files anywhere, anytime and on whatever device they use.

Zafar said that Windows 8.1 has a security shield for its users particularly for those of the corporate sector and protection against all kind of internet viruses. It has VPN application as well, he said. A decade back, he said the internet users were unable to have access to such dynamic features on their computers, like cloud computing, wider connectivity, greater storage size, social networking and better access to information, but Windows has now brought its users to the threshold of latest technologies with their easy usages.

He said Windows 8.1 can be updated without any cost as it is available on its Apps Store for users of its previous version of Windows 8. He said the lately introduced Windows version also have features and applications for healthcare and education sector as well. CIE at Microsoft, Amim Mohammad Khan, presented a demonstration of Windows 8.1 and explained the new features. He said all the applications are practical and user friendly.
