Meetings held in memory of Bewas

KHAIRPUR, Dec 13: The Sindhi Adabi Sangat and civil society members held condolence meetings in different parts of the province on Saturday to express grief over the death of renowned poet, Tajal Bewas.

A meeting organised by Sangat in Khairpur and presided over by poet Shahan Simang said that Tajal’s death was a great loss to Sindhi literature. Tajal was born in the Hayat Khan Bindi Motayo village of Sobhodero taluka where he studied up to matriculation under very hard circumstances, the meeting said.

The meeting said that poets, writers and common people were sad on Tajal’s demise and said the poet would always be remembered.

The speakers included Amjad Lashari, Shaukat Khaskheli, Mansoor Mirani, Mir Munawar Talpur, Qurban Mangi and Amar Iqbal.

In Hyderabad, Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui expressed profound grief over Tajal’s demise in a condolence message issued on Saturday.

He said that services of the late poet for the promotion of Sindhi language, literature and culture could never be forgotten. Sindhi literature had suffered irreparable loss due to his untimely death, he added.

In Mithi, speakers at a condolence meeting at the press club paid rich tributes to the late poet and said that he was one of the towering poets who left deep impact on literature.

The meeting organised by Sangat’s Mithi and Chelhar chapters, was attended by Prof Saindad Saand, Dileep Kothar, Khatau Jani, Bharumal Amrani, Vijay Sharma, Shankar Baghi, Bhisham Kothari and others.
