Media can play vital role in promoting Pak-Afghan ties: Durrani

KABUL: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani Wednesday said media of Pakistan and Afghanistan could play important and pivotal role in promoting the relations between the two countries and removing the misperceptions.
Talking to Afghan media at a luncheon reception hosted in his honour by Afghan Minister of Information and Culture Abdul Karim Khurram here at a local hotel, Durrani said Pakistan wants development, progress and prosperity of Afghanistan and media could effectively play its role in projecting these feelings.

Muhammad Ali Durrani said Pakistan government is fully determined to bridge any gap between the two countries in understanding each other and to promote bilateral relations. He said the main purpose of his visit is to promote understanding and remove any misperception. He said the people of the two countries have very close, deep-rooted and strong relations and added that these relations will be further strengthened following his visit to Kabul and interaction with the Afghan media.

He said Pakistan always extended full help and assistance for the development, progress and prosperity of Afghanistan as a strong, stable and developed Afghanistan is in the interest of Pakistan and the region. Referring to his meeting earlier in the day with the Afghan Information Minister Abdul Karim Khurram, Durrani said they agreed to further strengthen media relations through exchange of media persons, providing technical training and exchanging programmes for the benefit of the people of the two countries. Durrani said Pakistan’s government and people, President and Prime Minister have very strong feelings for the welfare and betterment of the people of Afghanistan.
