Man detained in Murtaza Razvi murder case

KARACHI: Police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of Dawn’s senior assistant editor Murtaza Razvi.

Speaking at a press conference at his office, SSP District South Nasir Aftab said that Waqas, a masseur, was arrested in the Gizri area, where he had hired a place to live. He was a resident of the Shah Latif Town area.

The suspect’s accomplice, however, has not been arrested so far, the SSP added.

After the murder, the suspect had also taken away the victim’s wallet, cellphone, clothes and other belongings.

Earlier on two or three occasions, the same person had massaged on the victim in the same apartment, the SSP said.

But this time, the suspect arrived there with an accomplice and after murdering the victim they took away his cellphone and other valuables.

However, police are still investigating the case from different possible angles and raids are being made to arrest the other suspect.

Waqas had first hit the victim on his face with a glass and later tied up his hands and strangled him with a string.
