Man axes his wife to death

LAHORE: A mother of four was axed to death allegedly by her ‘addict’ husband and his three cousins near Lalazar Colony on Raiwind Road on Thursday.

Sattokatla police said Parveen, 35, had married off Muhammad Saleem of Kachhi Kothi some 15 years back. The couple would often quarrel after Saleem started taking drugs and became an addict. Parveen started working at a house some three years back when her husband stopped giving her money to meet domestic expenditures.

About a fortnight back, Parveen went to her parents’ at a village on Multan Road after a quarrel with her husband over the same issue. She, however, continued working as a maid. On Thursday, she left her masterÂ’s house to make payment for a bill when her husband and his three cousins stopped her and axed her to death.

The Sattokatla additional SHO said a case had been registered against four absconders on the complaint of deceased’s father Amanat Ali.

Roof collapse: Five people were injured when the dilapidated roof of a single-storey house collapsed near Captain Jamal Road in Bara Sandah early on Thursday.

Rescue 1122 officials recovered Ali Sher, Zaman, Rizwan, Riaz and Tahir from the rubbles and shifted them to the Services Hospital. They were asleep at the time of the incident.
