Man arrested in Karachi for blackmailing girl on Facebook

The cyber crime circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claims to have arrested a young man for allegedly blackmailing a girl via the social networking website, Facebook.

FIA officials said that accused, Naveed Ahmed, son of Raheem Dad, has been arrested and pictures and internet EVO devices have been seized from his possession. An FIR No 31/15 under sections 36/37 ETO 2002, read with section 419 of Pakistan Penal Code has been registered.

FIA arrests student for harassing girl on Facebook

FIA officials investigating the case told The Express Tribune that the complainant, Muhammad Iqbal, in his complaint, stated that some unknown person or persons had created a fake Facebook ID with the username ‘Junaid Junaid’ and uploaded his daughter’s picture on the fake Facebook account. He also said the user wrote abusive remarks using the account.

The officials said the user also wrote the complainant’s mobile number in the contact sections on the fake Facebook account, due to which he is receiving calls from different unknown people.

Two arrested for blackmailing girls online

Iqbal said the fake account had dishonoured him and his family among his friends and relatives, forcing him to leave the city. Following the complaint, FIA officials managed to trace the whereabouts of the suspect and arrest him during a raid at his residence in the Korangi locality. This was the second such incident to have occurred within a week, as earlier the cyber crime circle arrested a young student for allegedly blackmailing a girl via Facebook.
