Licences for private radio, television channels: summary sent to Chief Executive
KARACHI- A summary has been sent to Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf for a final decision as to which of the ministry Information or Science and Technology should govern the grant of licences for the setting up of private radio and television channels and cable TV.
After the Chief Executive’s decision, a draft law will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval in this regard, stated the Federal Secretary for Information and Media Development, Syed Anwar Mahmood, while informally talking to senior journalists.
Anwar Mahmood said the Pakistan Television PTV is being given more and more independence gradually. In this regard he referred to the initiation of programmes like political discussions end morning news.
