LHC takes serious notice of illegal detention

Lahore, October 15 2005: Justice Sh. Abdul Rashid of the Lahore High Court Friday October 14 took serious notice of illegal detention of about ten persons and double entry in the record.

The court summoned the SP, CIA, Organised Crimes, Masood Aziz, SI, Mehdi Kazmi, muharirs, Saleem and Akram for October 17 to show the performance of SP’s subordinates.The court also directed to produce the detainees on October 17.

The court sent the recovered detenus to Old Anarkali Police station on their request as they refused to go Police Station Model Town, CIA, Organised Crimes. The detainees complained swear torture on them.

A petition was filed by Khalida Begum for recovery of her husband Nadeem. The court deputed the bailiff and that produced the detenu before the court on Friday. The detenu informed the court that about 9 other innocent people were also detained in the lock-up.

On it, the court immediately sent back the bailiff to CIA, Model Town, police station and recovered other detenus namely Muhammad Waseem, Tanvir Hussain, Sardar Wali, Noor Khan, Ashraf Masih, Nadeem Khan, Sardar Ali, Muhammad Umar, Muhammad Sohail and produced them before the court. The detainees started crying before the court that they were brutally tortured and police even plucked their hair from beard, armpits and chests.

They informed the court that they were detained for the last two to three months. The court bailiff produced the record in which their arrest was entered twice first on October 13 and second on October 14 morning.
