Leghari to open Technology Park

LAHORE – Federal Information Technology Minister Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari will inaugurate on May 21 the second modem and high-tech five-storey Software Technology Park set up by the private sector.

According to a press release, the park is part of Rs39 million project undertaken by the Ministry of Information Technology to set up six software technology parks in the country. This will be the second such STP in Lahore and overall sixth in the country.

There are two STPs in Islamabad and one each in Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar. Three out of the five existing STPs are already at 100 per cent occupancy while many IT companies are lining up to get space in these STPs given a wide range facilities offered in such parks.

The park has been built by NetSol Technologies Inc. following an agreement with the IT Ministry, which will bear the cost of providing fibre up to a road distance of five km from a PTCL exchange. The park to be called NetSol IT village would have a covered building space of 55,000 sq feet. In addition to this, 25,000 sq. feet of land space is also available for use.

With a building height of 41 feet encompassing five floors, including a basement, it can space over 600 resources that would be using state-of-the-art networking and electrical machinery to support their daily routines and endeavours.
