Lawyers, journalists to record statements
LAHORE: As many as 100 people, including 20 journalists, have registered their names with the registrar office to record their statements as witnesses in suo moto proceedings about police highhandedness on lawyers and journalists during a protest rally of lawyers against the suspension of chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Justice Syed Zahid Hussain of the LHC will start day-to-day inquiry from Saturday (today).
General notices to the national press and electronic media have also been issued to appear if they want as witnesses. The judge has also issued notices to advocates Naseer Ahmad Bhutta, Athar Minallah, Saadia Abbasi and Syed Zahid Hussain Bukhari as well as the Punjab advocate-general to appear on March 24 (today).
