Lawyers condemn private channel for disgracing judiciary
KASUR: The lawyers’ community on Saturday condemned the ARY TV channel and its anchor Mubashir Lucman for degrading the judiciary by ridiculing ex-chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
Lawyers, including Sharif Sodhal, Naveed A Malik, Naseem Hyat Ansari, MM Tariq, Sahibzada Nasir Mahmood, Mehr Muhummad Nadeem, Munir Ahmad Bhatti, Muhammad Sohail Azam, held an emergency meeting here at the District Bar Association committee room in which they passed a resolution that Mubashir Lucman and ARY channel have disgraced the judiciary and the honourable judges.
They said under a conspiracy Geo News was banned in Kasur and other parts of the country. They said anchors like Mubashir Lucman have left no stone unturned in disgracing the judiciary, adding that such acts would not be tolerated at all.
They warned the cable operators of Kasur to restore the Geo News immediately otherwise the lawyers would move court against them.
Besides the lawyers, Anjuman Tajran Kasur members, including Zeeshan Ahmad, Mian Liaquat Ali, Dr Zakar Hussain, Akram Mughal of Kariyana Merchant, demanded of the Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to take action against the cable operators who were broadcasting vulgar channels and CDs in the city but blocked Geo News without any reason.
