Lawyer booked for torturing female colleague

BUREWALA: Model Town police on Sunday booked the Burewala Bar Association former general secretary on the charges of threatening and torturing his female colleague here on Saturday.

Humaira Bashir advocate reported to police that she and bar former general secretary Rana Altaf Hussain appeared in a case of their clients before Civil Judge Naveed Ahmad. After the hearing, she was returning to her chamber when Rana Altaf Hussain allegedly hold her from the hair and tortured her, besides threatening her with dire consequences, she added.

She said that the accused lawyer also laid her down on the ground and broke buttons of her coat. She said that lawyers Muhammad Siddique, Muhammad Sarwar and her brother Tahir Jawad rescued her, while the accused managed to escape. The case has been registered under Sections 354/B and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
