Lawyer acquitted in maid murder

LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Ameer Ahmed Khan on Monday acquitted Ch Naeem, advocate, of the charges of killing 12-year-old maid Shazia Masih as the prosecution failed to prove the charges against him. The court also acquitted Naeem’s son Haris and wife Ghazala Naeem. Amanat, who was accused of taking Shazia to the advocate’s family for labour, was also exonerated from the charges.

During the proceedings, the prosecution failed to prove the charges levelled against all the accused of torturing and raping Shazia Masih. The medical report, submitted in the court, stated that Shaziaís death was natural and the cause of death was a skin disease instead of torture while the girl was not subjected to rape.
