Larkana police to provide security to journalists covering risky assignments

Some journalists who reported about recent bomb blast incidents in Larkana have received threats, and the Larkana Press Club has decided to convene a meeting on this issue.

Police would be requested to provide journalists reporting conflict issues in Larkana division bulletproof vests for their safety. Larkana Press Club has announced a toll-free number for the convenience of citizens.

These thoughts were shared in a three-day training event on the topic of journalism skills held by Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) in the Larkana Press Club,.

The workshop was held in collaboration with International Media Support and the Danish Embassy Islamabad and attended by electronic and print media journalists.

The closing ceremony was attended by DIG Larkana Abdullah Sheikh, and President Larkana Press Club S. Iqbal Babu.

DIG Larkana praised the Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) for training journalists. He said better trained reporters can help in building a better society.

DIG Larkana announced that journalists will be provided with a bulletproof vest by police during their reporting assignment in the conflict areas.

S. Iqbal Babu said the Pakistan Press Foundation is playing a vital role in training of journalists by conducting such workshops. He announced that a toll-free number would be obtained for his press club for better access to public.
