LARKANA (APP) – Child Rights Committee (CRC) Larkana the functioning cluster of SPARC organization which is working to abolish the corporal punishment in schools has urged the district education department to ensure strict ban on corporal punishment.
SPARC Sindh Protection Manager Kashif Bajeer -md CRC coordinator, members Apa Tabira Leghari, Nazir Ahmed Siyal, Shakeel Abbasi, Ammanullab, Advocate Abdul Rehman, Qazi Riaz, Tehmina, Ayaz Ali Hassan Khuhro underlined the authorities including district nazim Larkana, district coordination officer(DCO) Larkana and executive district officer to take strict measures against the usual corporal punishment in district.
They said in the modern world, corporal punishment remained a common way of disciplining children, added that the rise alarming of corporal punishment.
The activists said the corporal punishment had been banned in the country. Punjab and NWFP governments had instructed heads of institutions to ensure strict ban on corporal punishment.
SPARC regional manager said the teachers violating the ban would be expelled, which the government wished to propagate the slogan “maar nahi pyar”.
