Lahore PPP website launched
LAHORE: PPP leader Fauzia Wahab has said there seems an element of bias in matters of Hamid Saeed Kazmi and Chaudhry Moonis Elahi.
Talking to the media after launching the website of the Lahore PPP here Saturday, the PPP leader, without naming anyone said that that two elected representatives were behind bars at the moment whereas many others who were related with Hajj and NICL scams were not given the same treatment.
To a question, Fauzia said rather than casting aspersions of corruption against a party, facts should be pointed out. She said the PPP respected law more than anyone and citing the example of the prime minister s son Abdul Qadir Gilani, she said it was unprecedented that son of a ruler was interrogated by agencies.
Fauzia Wahab, who also served as central secretary information of the PPP for two years, also stated that the perception of a clash between the government and judiciary was not true while answering to a query about the reports of a clash between the PPP and judiciary.
To another question as to what will be the strategy of the PPP if the PML-N tenders resignations from Punjab Assembly to delay the Senate polls, Fauzia Wahab said if there was any such case, by-elections would be held on the vacant seats.
Citing the statement of Senator Babar Awan, Fauzia said as he had mentioned that under 18th Amendment, the assembly couldn t be dissolved without the advice of the governor, as being the representative of the President, the governor wouldn t take any such step.
She said that the President was the symbol of federation and he would not let the PA fall. The PPP leaders including Coordinator to President for Punjab Naveed Chaudhry, Finance Secretary Punjab Aurangzeb Burki, Secretary Information Punjab Dr Fakhr ud Din Chaudhry, PPP Women Wing Lahore President Faiza Malik and others were also present.
