KOICA awards scholarships to public officials

Islamabad – The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Pakistan held a pre-departure orientation for the government officials who are selected for master degree scholarship 2016.

With a mission to support human resources development (HRD) in developing countries, KOICA invites talented people from developing countries and helps them gain professional and systematic knowledge that will play a key role in their home country’s development, says a press release issued here yesterday.

To accomplish this mission, KOICA has been operating master’s degree courses with leading Korean universities in the fields of public policy, finance and economics, ICT, health, agriculture, rural development, fisheries science, development studies and women’s empowerment.

Country Director KOICA Pakistan, Sung Choon-ki welcomed and congratulated the scholars.
He briefly shared the miraculous socio-economic development in Korea and asked the participants to avail this excellent opportunity to learn from Korea’s development during their stay and to share their experience in Pakistan for sustainable development.

The KOICA alumni Kamran Nawaz (Sungkyunkwan University) and Rabia Jahangir (Yonsie University) briefed the newly selected fellows on the experience they have in Korean universities, Korea’s culture and lifestyle.
Later, Program Coordinator of KOICA Mohsin Khan and Program Officer Oh Hayeon briefly introduced the master courses and orientate participants about the logistics of the training program.

The selected scholars showed their gratitude and assure their support for KOICA and Korean government and committed to bring social and policy reforms in Pakistan after learning from Korean experience.
